The Cervantes Universe conquers Madrid

Updated: Aug 22

Artists and public pay tribute to the literary genius

The large number of visitors, media and artists from all disciplines and trends, characterised the inauguration of the exhibition of painting, sculpture, engraving and mixed media organised by the Atalante gallery as a tribute to Miguel de Cervantes on the 4th centenary of his death. The inauguration was attended by a number of notable artists representing Don Quixote and Sancho.

This April, Madrid is commemorating the figure of the writer in its most traditional neighbourhoods through a series of artistic, recreational-cultural and commercial proposals, aimed at the participation of citizens and aimed at young and old alike, with different offers recreating chapters and scenes from the universal work.

Cervantes and the creators in their varied international interpretations

The exhibition The Universe of Cervantes proposes a journey through the different ways of interpreting the same theme as seen from the perspective of the artists Adrian Goma, Alexandra Lazovich, Belén H. Cosgaya, Camelia, Linares Cores, David Patón, Francisco J. Díez, Gómez Salcedo, Manuel Mínguez, Jesús Molinera, Jorge Morgan, José Luis Muñoz, Juan Francisco Pro, Laura Juárez, Lika Shkhvatsabaia, Magdalena España, Manuel Quirós, María Altuna, María Teresa de Vega, Mónica Ruiz, Natalie Hickey, Paulino L. Tardón, Pablo Gómez, Pedro Moya, Ramce. T. Verdugo and Valentín Kovachev.

Gastronomy and La Mancha wines as a tribute to the Golden Century

At the inauguration, in keeping with the Cervantes theme, wine and cheese from La Mancha were served, complemented by Sancho's tartlets from the Alcolado bakery. A nod to Camacho's Wedding in Chapter XX of the second part.
