Georgian painter Lika Shkhvatsabaia is exhibiting her colourful paintings in the outdoor space of the Ateneo de Madrid until 31 May 2016. Most of the works were produced in 2015 -2016 and make up the exhibition entitled Vide Sile.

Lika Shkhvatsabaia (Tbilisi, Georgia, 1980), daughter of a famous Georgian sculptor, studied Fine Arts in her country and has been living in Spain for two years. Previously she spent some time in New York. She recently exhibited at the Atalante gallery in Madrid three paintings on the figures of Don Quixote and Dulcinea, which are now being shown again at the Ateneo.

The painter uses both oil and acrylic as pigments on canvas, sometimes mixing them in a mixed technique. I was born and raised with art, that's why my path was to study fine art,’ explains Lika. My way of working is linked to abstraction and colour conveys my emotional and intimate side,’ she adds.

The titles of the works, which dynamise the interpretation of the painting, range from Dialogue of Muses, Aegean Sea, My Days I and II, Star of Pompeii, The Ground The Road, Encounter in Oasis, Tragedy, Galaxy, Midnight Dream, Ancient City, Theatre, Sunset, Wind... Interesting is the nocturnal Randezvouz by night.

In short, a colourful and well-done painting, full of formal suggestions in compositions that highlight the good plastic preparation of Lika Shkhvatsabaia, a painter with a very old artistic surname in her country, Georgia, where excellent red and white wines are grown.
